The Evolution Of My Blog.

As June 21st will officially mark one year of lilyolivia.co.uk I've recently been contemplating my thoughts as to the direction in which I want to push my blog. Initially, when I started I knew I wanted to gush about makeup and clothes with the added splash of travel and lifestyle but aside from that I didn't really have a niche. You know, that word bloggers claim we all need to succeed? Well, I literally had no idea what I wanted mine to be, and even a year later I'm still not entirely sure. Of course, given an endless budget you could count me in with the likes of the designer fashion market - think: Chanel, Dior, Louboutin... But right now, I'm not really at a point in my life where that is feasible and especially considering the fact I'm going to university next year, it definitely just could not be kept up.

So that got me thinking: what exactly is in store for the future of lilyolivia.co.uk? What am I going to do in the next year in order to push my blog further, improve both the content and photography and hopefully continue to gain readers. Well in general I just really want to be putting out content that I'm proud of. Some of my travel posts from this past year, including the likes of my London and The Lake District ones are probably my absolute favourites - from the photography within them to the style of the writing and the general quality. I really want to be recreating that level within each and every one of my posts, which means no longer will I just post for the sake of posting, especially if I'm not 100% happy with the images or text.

In terms of the frequency of content, this may cause a slight drop. I posted eighteen times in May which is crazily more often than once every two days and whilst I loved writing each and every article, by the end of the month I couldn't help but feel as though my blog was slightly cluttered. I'm planning to keep it around the thirteen / fourteen mark as in the past I've found that to be just about the right amount. Feel free to let me know how many posts you think is the right amount per month because I'm only really going on general vibe right now.

I've also decided that I'm going to be focusing more heavily on more luxurious products within my beauty category. Already, as it is, most of my reviews and hauls consist of high end products both because I find them more exciting to write and also because I don't tend to wear a lot of drugstore makeup anymore. This doesn't mean I won't occasionally feature less expensive makeup and skincare  but the majority of my posts will lean towards the likes of Charlotte Tilbury and Chanel for example. Again this is something that I've been wanting to do for a while now and I hope you guys will continue to read and comment on my posts! As it is, I had some really amazing feedback on my High End Beauty Haul so hopefully this change will be well received!

Thank you guys for reading, as always it means so much to me! If you have any thoughts on what kind of content you'd like to see more / less of, then any feedback would be much appreciated!

  1. It's so hard to know what direction to take your blog in, isn't it? I think you're right, as long as you like what you're putting out there, it works xxx

Well I for sure am exited were your blog is heading, you aint losing my readership (Am I allowed to call myself your number 1 fan?? - I'm going to say yes hahah!) - You're right, I usually keep my posts to around 12/13 times a month, I don't like to have too much content because I feel somtimes the quality goes down! - yay for another year of lilyolivia.co.uk, you're honestly doing great! xxx
