Lunch At Rushton Hall Hotel & Spa.

There is nothing in this wold that I love more than spending my time eating out at luxurious restaurants and hotels. It's an excuse to spend time doing my hair and makeup, choosing an outfit that makes me feel really good about myself, and just indulging on good food and drink. So when my parents suggested that we all treat ourselves to lunch at Rushton Hall I was more than on board.

Rushton Hall is a beautiful stately home, set in acres countryside that has been converted into a glamorous hotel and spa. However on top of weekend retreats they also have a stunning restaurant catering for both lunch and dinners. It's definitely an up-market kind of place, as most people were dressed to impress. In fact I'd worried that I might have been slightly over dressed for lunch however luckily I fitted right in!

Luckily for us, the sun was shining and I managed to get a few lovely shots of the exterior. As you can tell, it's Elizabethan architecture is still going strong even hundreds of years later, and the gardens and acres of grass are pruned and taken care of by a wonderful team of groundsmen. In fact, if you're so inclined, there is a beautiful lake about a five minute walk away from the house itself which you can take a relaxed stroll around if you fancy. Because we were all wearing heels, we decided against it, but on another day I certainly would have taken the opportunity.

Upon heading inside we were taken to a lovely sitting room area where we ordered drinks and relaxed amongst the sofas and backdrop of wooden beams and oil paintings. The hall has definitely retained it's period features, embracing the traditional sense of decor magnificently. After about ten minutes or so we were led into another room - the restaurant - where we had a gander at the menu and selected what we wanted to try.

As usual, much excitement was had when the bread was brought out. Now, I'm a huge bread lover, and nothing beats warm, freshly homemade, mini loaves, just waiting to be spread with butter. The lovely lady who brought them to us explained that the white bread was sesame seed and the brown was oatmeal and honey - yes please

Shortly after our starters arrived. I'd chosen the goat's cheese mousse and beetroot salad, which literally looked like artwork on a plate. The chefs had clearly put a lot of effort into the presentation, and it was beautiful! I'm not a huge fan of eating gelatine, so I stayed away from the sphere type things - much to the dismay of the waiter - but aside from that, everything was delightful!

For the mains, my family actually all had the same thing. The menu unfortunately was very meat orientated and since we're all pescetarian that left us with about two options. However we selected the sea trout with saffron potatoes in a red wine sauce and I have to say it was so nice! The fish was cooked perfectly and the potatoes were so flavoursome. Highly recommend if you ever find yourself at Rushton Hall!

And then desert came around! I have a massive sweet tooth so have to say I was a bit gutted at the selection. I chose the pecan pie as the only other sweet thing was cooked peach and I can't stand cooked fruit. I don't know either, I just really hate it! But in hindsight, the pecan pie was actually really lovely, so I don't feel too cheated.

Neither of my parents are especially fond of desert so they both went for the cheese platter.

After lunch we headed back out into the courtyard to take some more photos and have a wander in the sunshine. Surprisingly the weather had actually pulled it out of the bag at the last minute because the whole morning it had been raining nonstop but since around about midday, the sun had shone and it had neared 25 degrees!

If anyone's intrigued to know, my dress is from Topshop and my shoes are from Next, however the shoes are at least two years old so I doubt they're available any more. The dress however was bought back in March and whilst I couldn't find the exact one, I'll link a similar here. My sister's dress is again an old one but her flower crown is from Primark and was only bought yesterday, so that's definitely still available!

Thank you all so much for reading! Let me know some of your favourite places to go out for lunch whether it's somewhere a little more on the formal side like this, or just good old Zizzi!

  6. What a beautiful hall! And your dinner looks delicious, it's such a shame though, that super fancy restaurants do tend to be much more limited on choices when you have dietary requirements! At least the options you did have looked so damm good! Just found your blog through the teacup club, love your photos, Stephie xx
