A Limited Edition Dior Eye Look: The Skyline Collection.

It definitely felt a little strange donning autumnal makeup on one of the hottest days of 2016 so far. But whether we like it or not fall is just around the corner and with it bringing some of the most beautiful makeup collections I've ever seen. Between the Chanel Le Rouge and the Dior Skyline collections there was serious serious swoon-worthy beauty that I was eager to try out.

Limited edition high end eyeshadow palettes always sell out in days especially if they're as beautiful as this one, so I just knew I had to pick it up when I saw it. And I don't think it's any surprise that I'm a huge eye shadow addict, so for me, this was something I was super excited about trying. Consisting of five lightly shimmering shades, all centred around a wonderful blush pink in the centre, this palette was like nothing I already owned.

Within the new Dior Skyline collection, there are two palettes: Capital Of Light and Parisian Sky. Both are equally delightful however personally I think the former suited my colourings better. In terms of quality and pigmentation I would definitely recommend Dior as a brand to go for. Each shade is beautifully iridescent in nature without being super sparkly which enables a soft, almost lit-from-within feel when applied to skin.

Aside from the eyeshadow palette, something else I was excited to try was the DiorShow Iconic Overcurl mascara. Once again my beloved Chanel is reaching the end of its life and coupled with my mum donating this barely used mascara to me (she didn't get on with it) meant that I had no excuses not to have fluttery lashes to compliment the new eyeshadows. The curved wand is meant to aid application and whilst I would agree to an extent, I don't think it makes it easy to target the smaller lashes in your inner corners. Aside from that I loved this product. If you're after length and definition then I'd highly recommend DiorShow as a high end mascara.

For this eyeshadow look I used the pale champagne colour as an all over lid base, highlighting the inner corners and brow bone with the iridescent silver shade. I then worked the central blush pink across the main lid and dragged it underneath my lower lash line as an almost subtle form of eyeliner. To finish I ended by combining the darker grey and the purple colours to make a crease contour and outer corner pop of colour. All in all it's a fairly gentle makeup look that I think will work wonderfully as wearable daytime makeup in the latter months of this year. Autumn is coming back and if the makeup collections so far are anything to go for, then bring on September!

Do let me know what you think about this palette: if you'd buy it, whether or not you like the colours and of course what Dior products you would recommend!

  1. OMG LOOK AT IT! The detail on the eyeshadow itself is stunning, you really cannot beat high end makeup! - I Love purple toned eyeshadow, especially if they have a shimmer in them, sometimes its nice to mix it up instead of the neutral brown tones! - beautiful photography AS ALWAYS! xxx
