Brand focus: The Body Shop

The Body Shop is a global skincare and beauty company, started in 1976 by Anita Roddick. The brand promises that none of their products (or the ingredients in them) have ever been tested on animals. Their skincare and makeup ranges boast many natural ingredients from moringa to satsuma, and was created after Roddick became inspired by a small California company which sold handmade, natural soaps.

Personally I'm very against any form of animal imprisonment, be it Seaworld, farming (I'm vegetarian, don't even get me started on animal rights!!) or animal testing. Whilst I do use products such as MAC which unfortunately have been tested on animals I do it with great sadness. What sort of life is living in a cage and being forced to try ingredients which may have potentially detrimental effects? This is one reason I adore The Body Shop. It's guilt free skincare - nothing suffered creating my body butter. I also think their products are exceptional quality. I've only featured makeup products in the photos above but I have tried multiple body butters, shower gels and lotions.

I wanted to talk a little about the products I've photographed above.

Firstly, I own three brushes: The powder brush, an eyeshadow brush (similar linked) and a flat foundation brush (not pictured). I've had all of these for a couple of years now and can say with confidence that they are amazing quality. They barely (if ever) lose hairs and they're so soft which feels lovely on your face. I would highly recommend The Body Shop for makeup brushes as they are great staple pieces easily as good quality as MAC.

Next up the three face products. I'm not going to talk to much about the All in One Face Base as I talked about it in my holy grail beauty products post (which you can view here). If you only take one thing away from this post make sure it's this: This product is amazing. Seriously I can't recommend it highly enough! As for the Honey Bronzer, another fab find. It's definitely a warm, orange toned bronzer but don't let that put you off! Dusted gently over the face it gives a lovely impression of a light tan - very mediterranean!

The foundation I haven't used in a little while however when I was first starting out with makeup (back in 2011) this was a holy grail. It's pretty lightweight however I do find that it dries my skin out and clings to existing dry patches. All in all I'd give it a 3 stars but if you have oily skin it would probably work a lot better!

The eyeshadow palette is another one I've already gone into detail on. If you're interested in that one (another brilliant product) you can read about it here

Thanks for reading my loves,
What are your Body Shop faves?

    1. It's really good! I love their pressed powders because they're really easy to get product out of, so you don't feel like you're constantly scraping away with your brush!
