How To Achieve The Perfect Fake Tan.

Can we just talk about how gorgeous the weather has been these past few days?! I mean only the other week it was snowing, so can we really complain about 25 degree heats and actual sightings of the illusive English sun? Not to mention the abundance of blossom that seems to have sprouted on every tree in my neighbourhood.

But when the weather is capable of changing so abruptly from jeans-and-jumper attire to maxi skirts and sandals, we need to be ready to bare our legs upon a moments notice. Which is why for todays post I thought I'd share my absolute holy grail, fake tan products: the Clarins Radiance Plus Golden Glow Booster.

Clarins Radiance Plus Golden Glow Body

The Price: £26.00

Quick Picks:

The packaging: 4 stars

The product5 stars

Value for money: 4 stars

Out of the two products, this is the one I'd probably most recommend. It's a luxury gradual tanning oil  which you mix with any body moisturiser and spread generously over your legs and arms. My mum was actually the one who introduced me to this tanning product as she spend a good portion of summer 2015 raving about it. So naturally I had to try it and see for myself.

I believe you're supposed to add 4 - 6 drops of the oil to a smallish splodge of moisturiser and repeat over the course of a couple of days. However ain't nobody got time for that. I prefer to add a generous 8 or so drops in the evening after I've showered so that in the morning I wake to luxurious golden legs.

The formula of this tan is absolutely amazing. It doesn't streak at all, the colour is natural and build-able and each bottle lasts for ages. Of course that certainly helps to justify the price tag, which is on the pricy side, but really? It's me, and we all know I'm known for the *occasional* beauty splurge.

The reason why I've only given a four stars for the packaging is just me being super picky. The top part has a dropper so you can control the amount of product that comes out, which is fabulous except when your hands are slick with lotion, it becomes really hard to use. But I mean, I'm not complaining, I'm totally repurchasing this when my bottle runs out!

Clarins Radiance Plus Golden Glow Booster Face

The Price: £19.00

Quick Picks:

The packaging: 5 stars

The product: 4 stars

Value for money: 4.5 stars

This product is very similar to it's larger body counterpart. Same great texture, same classy packaging, except for one thing: I don't find that this gives me as good of a tan as the body version. Now it may be that I'm a little reticent to overdo the oil (oompa loompa face no thank you) but for some reason it just doesn't seem to tan me? Very strange as I imagine they work in the same way. However saying that, my mum also uses this and loves it! She always ends up super golden (well jel not gonna lie) so it might just be my skin being funny.

I would highly recommend both of these products as an alternative to traditional fake tan, as they are so lovely and effective. If you've got any fake tan recommendations, feel free to leave them below or tweet me @livinglikelili. I always love to have you guy's feedback!

  1. I need the weather to stay like this! Love these shots and I need to look into getting that product...I'm not a fan of actual tanning but fake tanning is right up my alley. You know, that pretty bronze-y look.

    1. Thank you! Yeah I don't really tan too much naturally... Just the heat makes me really sweaty and annoyed haha! But yesss fake tan for the win xx

  2. That looks absolutely perfect and foolproof! I've been busting out my tanning creams, mousses and towelettes lately due to the nice weather too. Wound up with quite a few streaks already, so I'm looking for an easier fool-proof formula. Never tried the oil, so this looks promising.
