An Ode To Colour.

Every time I'm convinced that summer is finally here, I'll wake up to temperatures barely topping ten degrees and skies more drab than... Well, anything. Which is a shame because I love warmer weather and switching things up season by season. And yet for me like most of us it's all too easy to resort to wearing various ensembles of black, all day everyday. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge advocate for the LBD or the ever loved black skinny jeans and a jumper combo, but it's spring, shouldn't we be dressing a little brighter? *Side note since writing this temperatures have sky rocketed and I'm pretty sure the whole UK is melting at the minute!*

The thing is, I do love wearing colour. It puts me in a good mood, and it makes me feel like I've put even the slightest effort into what I look like.

And the thing is, it can be done in so many different ways; colour can be incorporated into an outfit as a statement accessory - nothing looks better than an all black outfit with a red heel - or as part of the outfit itself.

Personally orange isn't a colour I usually wear. My mum actually bought this top for me for my birthday and immediately I knew it was something that would work to bring a little sunshine to my life. It's made out of a very light synthetic knit which makes it perfect for this time of year as I think we can all agree that the weather hasn't quite made its mind up yet. Paired with the classic black Jamie jeans from Topshop and you've got an outfit that easily transitions from chilling in the house to out for a spot of lunch.

I went through a stage of not really wearing anything on my wrists for a long while. If you remember some of my fashion posts from last summer you might recall that I was never without my Pandora and Kate Spade bangles however since going to uni I found myself sticking to my rings and Tiffany & Co necklace and not straying much further. However as it was my 20th birthday last week (happy birthday to me!) my parents bought me this beautiful black chord bracelet with two charms: a letter L to symbolise my name and my birthstone. It's been firmly glued to my wrist ever since and I don't see it leaving anytime soon!

Lastly I wanted to touch on my shoes. I believe in this life you've got to treat yourself and whilst I've definitely been doing it a little too often recently, one of my fashion purchases was this gorgeous pair of TOMS. I'm a huge advocate for TOMS shoes, they're super comfortable, easily wearable and come in a variety of different colours and patterns.

Before I go I just wanted to mention that I'm hoping to get a Shop My Style page set up on my blog in the next month or so, so if that's something you like seeing on other peoples blogs let me know!

Thanks for reading, let me know in the comments what your favourite colour is to wear this time of year, and if you're in the UK how are you coping with the heat?!
