3 Books To Take on Holiday.

One of my absolute favourite places to read is laying on a sun lounger, sipping on a cocktail whilst embracing the 30 degree heat. So whenever I head away on holiday, I make sure to select a few books to bring along with me for situations such as this. For me, reading is the epitome of relaxing; I love escaping into another world that is entirely different to my own and today I wanted to share with you all, three books that I've taken to Greece with me.

As always, I love to hear what you guys have been reading so drop me a comment, telling me you must-reads of 2016!

'The Girl On The Train' by Paula Hawkins

*

Rachel catches the same commuter train every morning. She knows it will wait at the same signal each time, overlooking a row of back gardens. She’s even started to feel like she knows the people who live in one of the houses. ‘Jess and Jason’, she calls them. Their life – as she sees it – is perfect. If only Rachel could be that happy. And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. Now Rachel has a chance to become a part of the lives she’s only watched from afar. Now they’ll see; she’s much more than just the girl on the train…

This is one of those books that everyone seems to have read! Much like Gone Girl and Before I Go To Sleep, there is a huge amount of hype surrounding both the novel and the upcoming film. So much, that I just had to have my say! To be honest I don't really know a huge amount about the plot or the genre - only that it's a thriller (perfect) - and I can't wait to find out more. Do let me know if you've read this book, or any of the others that I'm going to talk about, because I'm really intrigued to know what people have thought.

'Passenger' by Alexandra Bracken

*

New York City, present day
In one night, Etta Spencer is wrenched from everything she knows and loves. Thrown into an unfamiliar world, she can be certain of only one thing: she has travelled not just miles, but years from home.
The Atlantic, 1776
Captain Nicholas Carter is tasked with delivering Etta to the dangerous Ironwood family. They are searching for something - a stolen object they believe only she can reclaim. But Nicholas is drawn to his mysterious passenger, and the closer he gets to her, the further he is from freedom.
The Edges of the World
Together, Etta and Nicholas embark on a perilous journey
across centuries and continents, piecing together clues left behind by a desperate thief. But as Etta plays deeper into the Ironwoods' game, treacherous forces threaten to separate her not only from Nicholas, but from her path home - for ever.

I am so excited to read this book!! I bought it a couple of months ago and it's been sitting on my shelf, staring at me ever since. Unfortunately I've never read anything by Alex Bracken before, but I've heard absolutely incredible things about her Darkest Minds series, so when I saw this in Waterstones, I just knew it had to come home with me.

Again, I'm not sure of the plot, only what I can pick up in the blurb, however two words: Time Travel.  YASS. I just love the idea of different timelines interlinking with each other, and I've always been fascinated by the ideas of travelling in time and space (*cough* Doctor Who nerd *cough*) so I cannot wait to read this! The whole premise just seems really interesting to me and totally different to anything I've read before.

Also let me know if you guys would be interested in reviews of any of these books once I've finished them?

'Six Of Crows' by Leigh Bardugo

*

Criminal prodigy Kaz Brekker is offered a chance at a deadly heist that could make him rich beyond his wildest dreams - but he can't pull it off alone.
A convict with a thirst for revenge. A sharpshooter who can't walk away from a wager. A runaway with a privileged past. A spy known as the Wraith. A Heartrender using her magic to survive the slums. A thief with a gift for unlikely escapes. Six dangerous outcasts. One impossible heist.
Kaz's crew is the only thing that might stand between the world and destruction - if they don't kill each other first.

Okay... So if you've been around these parts since last Christmas *shudders at how fast this year is going* then you might remember that I actually received this book for Christmas. I've had it seven months and have yet to read it?! Well, kind of. I actually started this ages ago, I can't remember how long to be honest, but I never go into it, so I just gave up. But it's been on my bedside table ever since, taunting me by remaining unread so naturally I'm giving it another go. And hopefully with endless time to read whilst away on holiday I'll fall into loving it, the same way the entire book blogging community seemed to last year.

Okay for that was 3 books I'm taking on holiday with me! By the time this post goes up I'll be in Greece so be sure to add me on my Snapchat (@lilyoliviablog) to see what adventures I'm getting up to!

  1. We're book twins I'm reading Six of Crows too!! I can't believe you got it and didn't read it though. It stopped being available in the UK for half the year because they didn't print enough copies and it was so popular! It only just came out again!
